Social dance night to aid doctors’ campaign to send medical supplies to Sri Lanka

Posted May 16, 2022

Students and friends of RnR Dance Studio will hold a social night of dancing to raise funds for the Federation of Sri Lankan Organisations of Queensland’s campaign with Brisbane doctors to send vitally needed medical supplies to hospitals in Sri Lanka.

The evening will be held from 6.30 to 11pm on May 29 at the Finnish Hall, 62 Newnham Rd, Mt Gravatt East. Tickets are $35.00 a head, and includes a Sri Lankan-style dinner. BYO drinks.

The campaign follows a discussion the FSOQ had with three Brisbane doctors who have undertaken the despatch of much-needed medicine and other supplies for the treatment of critically ill patients in Sri Lanka. The country is experiencing a shortage of drugs in the prevailing economic crisis and lack of foreign exchange reserves to pay for the importation of supplies.

The doctors are working closely with the Doctors Association of Sri Lanka (DASL) and the NRMA (the drug approval authority in SL), and they have identified a list of medicines and other supplies.
